Review of Troll Magazine

In these days of mergers and lay-offs in the gaming industry it is refreshing to see new, independent companies staking their claims. Troll Magazine just released their premier issue at Gencon 1997 and they show strong potential for the future.

For the most part they succeed. As a premier issue Troll Magazine has nice lay-out, interesting articles, fiction and the obligatory on-going comic. While the editing was a bit sketchy, the articles show that Eclipse Studios does have ambitious plans for the future. The premier issue features an interview with three illustrators, book review, game review, an explanation of the new Highlander RPG and an interview with the founders of Conception Comics. They did their homework for the first issue and it shows.
