Review of Domains of Dread
Goto [ Index ] |
After all the wondering with what is going to happen to TSR after the WoTC merger an AD&D product has finally come out. "Domains of Dread" is the 2nd edition for the popular Ravenloft Campaign Setting and it is chock full of good stuff.
With over 280 pages of maps, descriptions, charts and tables this book proves that TSR knows how to make a product look nice. And they also did a fantastic job in writing, this book was lots of fun to read for a capsule review and should prove it's worth in the follow-up playtest.
The book is laid out into logical order with descriptions of the various domains within Ravenloft up front. After that comes secret societies, rules for fear, horror and madness, explanations of magic and magic items, curses and character generation. It's interesting to see them put alkl the flavor up front where it can grab the reader and then put the rules after.
All in all this was a fun book to read and those interested in Ravenloft will probably enjoy it.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
