Divided into four sections - characters, creatures, organizations and new magic items & spells - the book sets out to detail the darker side of the realms. Most of the entries are from various novels and short stories that have helped add depth to the setting.
The one concern that a DM will have with this product is the power level involved, many of the characters and monsters were serious threats in the stories and novels which is reflected in the write-ups. This product can only be recommended for high-power campaigns.
"Villains' Lorebook" is a well written product dessigned for fans of the novels who want to pit their players against the more infamous bad guys of the Forgotten Realms. Most other DMs will find less use of the book.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
