I like paper. I like books, maps all that stuff. So when I managed to snag some free samples of the Microtactix paper-folding-diorama-geomorph-miniatures stuff at Origins, I was very happy. It was, I believe, their Old West town. "Neat, folding buildings! I can do this!", I thought.

Then they came out with this. Paper miniatures of fantasy critters. Oh my! I can use them in games, and my daughter can color them! It's a project and a miniature!

Since this is a capsule review (and a test of the new interface with mall.rpg.net), I'll keep this short.

The artwork and production of these is fantastic. If you're into iconic representation (in contrast to, say, painted scale lead with fur), these are a great way to add some spice to a tabletop session. They transport well, and you can throw them out at the end of a session (because you can print more!)

I didn't have any problems extracting or printing them (on a linux system, using an HP printer). So, as virtuals go, the overhead is low. The price is reasonable. The paper stock is, well, whatever you can run through your printer. I'm fairly hooked on virtuals (won the entire Microtactix line via the GIDFA auction, as it happens).
