Review of Gardisayal

the Petal Throne) , the most detailed role playing world ever presented. The rules are good and easy to use. The best part in my opinion is that there are two combat systems a fast one without hit points and a detailed one with. Plus the presence of the detailed magic system first seen in the Zochhi Swords & Glory system. The worst part is that at $44 I expected the game to be complete but in order to play you need Growing Up in Tekumel (the charachter generation system) and the Tekumel Bestiary. Worse if you are new to Tekumel you need the now out of print Tekumel Sourcebooks.

If however you can find the components you will find out why people have been playing in the world of Tekumel since the early seventies. Professor MAR Barker has created a unique fantasy world. It is not the Tolkeinesqe world of Dwarves and Elves found in AD&D and other games instead the six limbed Pe Choi and Pache Lei as well as the eight limbed Ahoggya and the flying Hlaka join the human empires in a world based on Incan and Pacific Island culture with a generous amount of Imagination. We owe Prof. Barker an enourmos debt for sharing his world with us. I urge people looking for something new to try something old. the world of Tekumel.
