Review of Lankhmar: City of Adventure

Goto [ Index ]
Having read all of Fritz Leiber's, Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stories, I could not resist AD&D supplement. To any fans, for any system, this is a book to buy. The city of Lankhmar is laid out in extreme detail. Guilds, religions, society groups, NPCs and places of interest receive generous description. Leiber's stories receive adventure outlines and suggestions for play. Lankhmar's world of Newhon also receives some detailing beyond what's available in the novels.

It comes with a large poster map, a book of detailed geomorphs for the city streets and a campaign book. Gaming Leiber fans will find it a must, any fantasy gamer will find Lankhmar a great addition to an existing campaign. Scifi gamers would find the politics and mysteries of Lankhmar challenging for their ultra-modern characters. The cover price is $12, not unreasonable for the amount of detail you get inside.
