When I first heard about it, my gut reaction was "Oh boy, another sorry game like Aeon/Trinity."
When I first read about the powers on the website, I was like "Oh boy, a god-character game."
When I first saw the book itself, it was a weird size.
When I read the book, oh boy, did it kick buttocks! The Novas, while powerful, do have checks limitations. Yeah, they can kick butt, yeah most of them could probably step on a mortal and squish one, but hey, they're SUPERHEROES for Chrissakes!
All in all, I was pretty darned impressed with it. I'm glad White Wolf has finally come out with a superhero game, one which so utterly kicks the butt of just about any other game out there on the market right now (though i suspect Brave New World will give them a run for their money).
The Storyteller system works better than I could ever imagine for this genre of game, and the powers are way sweet! The addition of being able to buy powers at half cost at the price of Taint means that you can make a pretty powerful character, but at a price.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 5 (Excellent!)
