Review of Pillory

Tiny Furniture's "Pillory" is a multi-piece figure, consisting of four pieces, including a tiny lock. The miniature may be purchased by itself, or as part of Tiny Furniture's "The Execution Day" set, which includes "1) Gallows and Scaffold, 2) Executioner axe and chopping block, 3) Guillotine, 4) Pillory, 5) Torturer". Both the "Pillory" and "The Execution Day" miniatures may be purchased unpainted or painted. (The last photo is the "Execution Day" set.) Like Tiny Furniture's other miniatures, their pillory miniature has great detail, including a small sign and that tiny lock. The model has pretty much no mold lines. Some pieces are attached to sprues. Assembly requires superglue and the pieces are small, but not tricky to glue together. A painted version is also available.

The model is easy to paint. Paint the wood sections as wood. I use a brown brush-on primer, followed by a brown wash, such as Army Painter Soft Tone Ink, then drybrushed the edges with a lighter color of brown. For the metal lock, I used a metallic brush-on primer, followed by a dark wash, such as Secret Weapon Miniatures Armor Wash. You can certainly prime in black, then paint brown and metallic instead. Then paint the small sign in ochre. As seen in the pictures, you may want to paint it at the same time as other "wood" miniatures.

Conclusion: While not the fanciest miniature for painters, the pillory is still a staple of any medieval city with rotting fruits and vegetables.
