Silent Death Capture the Flag by Clayton Capra
INTRODUCTION: This is an Astro Smash variant that allows you to play capture the flag with your Silent Death Ships OBJECTIVE: The object of this scenario is to capture the enemy flag and exit off the opposite end of the map. Each time your team successfully captures a flag you score a point. When time is called the team with the most points wins! Players and Time Limit: The suggested number of players for this event is eight split into random teams of four players each. The suggested time limit is two hours. Ships: To determine ships use the Astro Smash Chart and change the shyrak shuttle to shyrak shuttle II. Each player receives two random ships from tier "B". Once both of your ships are destroyed you will receive one random ship from tier "A" that enters on the turn following the destruction of your last tier "B" ship. New ships enter on the edge of the map closest to your own flags base. If your tier A ship is destroyed you may continue to roll for a new one until the game ends. MAP SETUP: The flag bases should be placed on the long ends of the map centered 5 to 10 hexes from the edge. Both sides flag bases must be the same number of hexes from the edge as determined by players before the event begins. Each side sets up their ships anywhere between their own flags base and the edge of the map. FLAGS: Guarding your Flag You may not move into the same hex as your own flags base. Capturing a Flag A ship must be in the same hex as a flag and then pay a tight turn cost in order to pick up the flag. It must have enough movement points to do so. Once a ship picks up a flag it can never drop it unless the ship is destroyed, when this happens the flag remains in the same hex as the destroyed ship until it is picked up by another ship. If a ship makes it off the opposite end of the map with an enemy flag (scoring a point) on the following turn it will reappear on the map edge nearest its own flags base and another enemy flag will appear at the enemy base at the beginning of the turn. All other ships remain as they were.
Recovering a Captured Flag If you pick up your own flag left behind by a destroyed ship you must immedeately move back to your own flags base taking the quickest path and drop it off. After you enter the hex with your flags base it costs no movement points to drop it off. Your ship may not remain in the hex with your flags base but must move on. Recovering a flag allows an exception to the rules for dropping a flag and moving into the same hex as your flags base.
Scoring Points During Capture the Flag you must work together as a team. You only win if your team wins. Valor points account for who has contributed the most toward the teams victory.
Team Points A team receives one point each time a team member successfully captures the enemy flag and exits off the opposite end of the map with the flag.
Valor Points Valor points rank individual performance during the game and are also used as a tie breaker. If both teams have the same number of points when time is called, total each team members valor points. The team with the most valor points wins.
