WHITE DWARF 235
Orks take over this issue, with the cover featuring the Ork Codex and
lots of Waaagh! madness throughout!
Andy Chambers gives the designer's eye view of the greenskins and their
new book, plus several pages covering their upcoming figure releases.
He tells the epic tale of the Ork invasion of Badlanding and Rynn's
World (home of the Crimson Fists Space Marine Chapter), with a set of
campaign rules and stories that may be familiar to veteran players from
the Rogue Trader days.
We'll also look at more of the Vampire Counts, with an article on
another
of the vampire bloodlines, the Necrachs. We'll also take a look at the
new Zombie regiment set (with some great conversion ideas), plus Jervis
Johnson has a new Undead scenario featuring Doomlord Deiter Helsnicht
plus two new army lists for players to try out. Wrapping it up is an
article with tips for collecting a Vampire Counts army.
Brace For Impact! Andy Chambers (busy guy this month!) weighs in with
new torpedo rules for Battlefleet Gothic, plus the Space Marines get
their own fleet listing too! Andy also adds some valuable Questions &
Answers for the game to boot.
The Sisters of Battle also get some new rules and wargear in Chapter
Approved, in a sneak peek at bits from the upcoming Codex. And to
finish
things off, Jervis adds in a 20 page battle report of Orks vs Crimson
Fists using a new 40K mission First Blood.

NEW RELEASES
Battlefleet Gothic New Releases
Many of you might remember the old Space Fleet game, and
the promise to one day make it into a much bigger game - that
day is here!
Set during a major Chaos incursion into Imperial space, the
game includes full rules for the Chaos and Imperial fleets, plus
rules for Ork and Eldar raiding fleets. You also get campaign
rules as well, to stretch games into linked settings and work in
ship & crew improvements (and damage!).
The game comes complete with Rulebook, counters, dice,
range rulers, playsheets, and 8 incredible new plastic ship
sprues which can be assembled into a variety of the large
Imperial and Chaos Cruisers (including Gothic class cruisers, of
course!).
We also have a full assortment of ships coming too, of course,
for Imperial and Chaos fleets. We're planning to introduce even
more rules and fleets in White Dwarf as well, so keep your scopes

NEW WARHAMMER NOVELS
Late August/early September the Black Library is proud to announce
the release of a new range of Warhammer Novels. Kicking off this
are two cracking novels from William 'Bill' King and Dan Abnett.
Old-time Warhammer fans will remember Bill's Gotrek and Felix
stories from a long-time ago and newer fans may have had a chance
to catch some of their mayhem and carnage in the pages of Inferno!.
While Dan Abnett's first novel will be a cracking war epic starring
none other than Commissar Gaunt and his Ghosts, another storyline
that Inferno! fans will be familiar with.
Bill King's first novel Trollslayer is a collection of all the
Gotrek and Felix stories to date, with two cracking new adventures,
finally the whole thing is tied together nicely with excerpts from
Felix's diaries. Bill is going to follow this up with further novels
including Skavenslayer and Daemonslayer.

Huck's Hopefully Helpful Hints:
Quick one I like to use now for my Space Marines, which are almost
all plastic figures (the new plastics are just too cool). If you're
having problems with the figures falling over when the table gets
bumped, superglue a penny underneath the base. It keeps them more
stable, and also gives the models more of a heft when moving them
around. Tom Kirby, head of GW, mentioned this one to me on a visit
last month when he was looking over the marines I had on my desk, so
I went back & added the pennies. Thanks Tom!
And that closes out this newsletter. Looking back, I started this
very informally in March of 95, shortly after I joined the company
in the Convention Support department (now Promotions). I really had
a lot of fun doing it each month, and I hope it was of some use to
fellow gamers out there. As we close out this newsletter, make sure
to subscribe to the new one, as mentioned above. I'll probably
be posting that up in newsgroups as it comes out too. The people
doing the new newsletter very much want your input on it, so if you
think of anything you'd like to see in it, let them know!
Cheers all, and happy gaming!
