Brawl Club Foglio

Brawl Club Foglio is a fast and very fun game. It's non-collectable so it does not get expensive. There are six different characters you can play each represented by a deck that retails for $6.95. The original Brawl also features six characters that are compatible with Club Foglio making for a nice variety to choose from.

If your looking for a fast game this is it. The box says a game can be played in 60 seconds and that's no joke. Like eating Pringles Potato Chips where you can't eat just one, you can't play just one game, you will want to play again and again. The game is fast enough to allow several games to be played in a session. You might even sneak in a game with a friend while you are waiting for your turn in a longer game your playing.

The brawl takes place at a night club called Club Foglio. Most of the characters are employees of the club. Tess is a melancholy waitress who works the night shift. Mischo is the club's big bad bouncer. Crane is the clubs DJ, Gina the bartender. Alex and Rent frequent the club as patrons. Each character has a unique fighting style and is given a skill rating based on how difficult the strategy of the deck is for new players. The Skill level of Alex is rated as easy so she would be the best choice for beginner players . Tess and Crane are advanced.

The game play is real time, you just whip out cards and slap them down as fast as you can like slap jack. The game starts out with two character cards on the table. Basically who ever has played the most hit cards down on their side of the character cards wins. There are red, blue and green hits and corresponding block cards. A block card stops any more hits from being played on that side. That is the very basics of the game beyond hit and block are clear, press, hold and freeze cards. Club Foglio adds three new cards that were not in the original Brawl,. null, reverse and hold. All these different types of cards gives you something to think about when your playing , but you have to think fast. Each of the characters has a different number of the various cards that greatly determines the strategy you use when playing.

The artwork is great in Foglio's recognizable style. I am sure some Foglio fans will purchase the game just because of the artwork. I don't know what else I can say about the artwork other than it's what you would expect from Foglio. Will we see a Brom Brawl set in the future? I hope so.

Note to James Ernest. Your on to something, this game has lots of growing potential. I would love to see some Sailor Moon licensed Brawl or how about a old west gun fight. I look forward to many more brawl expansions throughout the next few years.
