2 piece figure 28 mm
The ice stalker appears to be a humanoid carved out of ice. He comes in two pieces, the body and a base. The base is a solid metal base and is slotted diagonally. The pose is a little odd, with his left arm arcing overhead and his right arm below. Both hands end in icy talents. His icy beard and hair is well done looking like spiky icicles. The figure looks like heíd stand about eight feet tall in a 28mm game.
Comparing him to a wizard I have from the Freebooter line, I see that my estimate is about right. He might look taller than normal due to the raised arm and the spiky hair but the body has some substance to it as well. Heís not a stick figure.
Detail on the figure is well done with lots of attention to the minute bits. For example, the spiky spine, the layers of ribs that look skeletal, the ground covering the creatureís feet, are all well done.
Packaging on the figure was good in that most of the figure is not bent. One of the few things I hate about Reaper figures is that if the figure has a two-handed weapon or a slender rod or something that stands out from the figure, chances are itís bent. The only thing bent on this figure in my case, is the pinky finger on the left, which I was able to bend back without any pliers.
In terms of flak and flash, the hands are the main culprits here. I suspect itís because they end in triangle or dagger formations and some of the material seeps out for that tight position thatís not rounded but sharp.
Mold lines are minimum. Depending on which way I hold the figure, I either see them slightly as the line catches the light, or not at all. For example, when looking at it front view, I see no mold lines. When looking at the back at an angle, I can see the tiny flash of a mold line on the bottom left arm. If I strain my eyes, I can see where the mold lines are on the ribs. The sculptor has done it to the point where itís icy make up hides the mold lines very well.
In the Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary, the ice stalker is a cold based elemental whose heart is from the primal soup of the ancient ocean. In terms of using it to represent something else, Iím a little at a loss due to the unique features of the icy fingers and hair, but in a pinch, it could easily substitute as a humanoid ice-elemental.
If youíre looking for a clawed terror, the Ice Stalker is priced very competitively at $5.99.
