Review of Silent Death Annex: Operation Dry Dock

Operation Dry Dock is somewhat of an "appendix" for Silent Death. It is a reference sourcebook for Silent Death.

This book introduces "fleets" to Silent Death. Each of the 12 human factions and the two major aliens (Primates and Draconians) have their own preferred ships to use, letting players futher personalize their own play fleets. A fan of the Data Sphere? This book tells you what ships the Data Sphere pilots prefer, or what ships are made within the Data Sphere. A nice touch.

Beyond that, there is reference on the most famous fighters in the Silent Death universe, with revised starcraft displays and refits for many starcraft designs. The revised display is a great touch - it adds needed weapon details, eliminating a lot of book-flipping during the game. As for the introduced refits, it is always fun to surprise your opponent with the familiar looking Lance Eltectra refit, swapping the substandard weaponfit with leaner and meaner ones.

You also get the starcraft displays for the Warhounds, escort-class ships that aren't currently available anywhere else. (Their book, Warhounds, is presently out of print) Dropping one of these on the tables could result in large dose of fear coming from your opponent.

Overall, this book is a good add-on to Silent Death, compiling stats in one place and greatly improving the starcraft display. You get the fleet rules as well, letting you bring more of the game background into your games.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
