Review of The Book of All Flesh

Goto [ Index ]
Essentially, this is an anthology of zombie horror short-stories. What they don't tell you is that THESE ARE SOME OF THE BEST STORIES YOU WILL EVER READ! I've read a lot of horror fiction, zombie and otherwise, and I'm a big fan of the zombie horror genre, so these stories were right up my ally, no questions asked, but I didn't actually expect to enjoy reading them this much! Even a friend, who hates the zombie genre, has loved the few he's read out of it.

Whether or not you play AFMBE, you'll enjoy the stories, and probably get innumerable story ideas from them for your own roleplaying adventures. Some of the stories are traditional zombie horror, but most of them take a fairly novel approach to it, putting zombies in outer space, or in the circus. More than the actions the victims take, the stories focus on the psychology of the humans and zombies involved in the tales, thus making them that much more disturbing.

So, why is the style rating just 'average'? Well, there aren't any interior illustrations, and there's not much you can do with an anthology beyond seperating the stories and making sure they're well-edited. So, don't let that stop you! Get a copy; you'll love me for it.
