Review of Southern Vehicles Compendium Two: Tanks & Artillery - Swords of Honor

So, you're sitting in your favorite Heavy Gear. Probably one of those bigger ones - maybe a Kodiak for instance. Anyway, you're flipping through today's paper, and you read something about Heavy Gears being the more eqivalent to big infantry than gods on the battlefield.

And you think, "Huh. I've played lots of Battletech. If Gears are like 'Mechs, then I AM a god on the battlefield."

Then, a nice big tank rolls up - let's say a Visigoth for the sake of argument. And that Hun opens fire on you with a flurry of rockets and heavy field gun shots. Suddenly, your favorite "god of the battlefield" Gear is a mass of swiss chess. (cross reference: Dominik Hasek)

So, if you didn't know that Heavy Gears are no match for heavy tanks, you need to read this book.

This book details some of the most common ground vehicles of the Southern Republic and the companies who make them. It also includes details on variants, histories, and full record sheets and recognition guide.

It's just what the RPG and Tac gamers wanted.

As with all DP9 books, the interior is a work off art. It's laid out well, with lots of illustrations - multiple angels on each vehicle, and even a layout guide to tell you what is where on each.

Gamewise, this is a great resource. Players need a ride? The Barnaby transport is a quick, if cramped, ride. Need fire support? Can't destroy it better than with a Vandal and its overkill Hellbringer missles. There's even a minesweeper and motorcycles in here.

So, if your players think that Heavy Gear begins and ends with Gears, pick up this book. One look at a Blitz Visigoth will have them begging for mercy.
