Review of Hot Rods and Gun Bunnies

Guardians of Order are impressing the hell out of everyone these days. The company is really jumping on several products and projects.

The line the stands out the most is their TRI-STAT system which was started with Big Eyes, Small Mouth.

Now with the games second suppliment, Hot Rods & Gun Bunnies, what was great becomes better...

First and formmost, the main reason for any BESM player to buy thsi suppliment(even if you're not an action nut) is for the new Skills System that is introduced to the Tri-stat system(OK, so it was actually introduced in the Dominion game, but this is the first BESM product to use it) It makes gameplaya lot better. Sometimes, certain abilities just can't be worked into an "attribute"(Especially when you have very few attribute points to decide to work with) This finally gives the players a lot more to build their characters and to build those well rounded characters they want so badly...

Gun and Cars: Like Big Robots, Cool Starships did for mecha, thsi game does it for guns and cars.

The weapon building system is well balanced for the fact actions combat system that is BESM, and it lets you have a lot fo easy to use templates to work with.

The vehichle construction system is a godsend for those who wnat to build bad ass street rods, but don't want to muddle with the mecha constyruction rules can be used to do the same thing.(E.g. having to select "no arms" defect for all cars, boats, etc...)

This book is two fold. first it's a guide to the classic shoot em up action anime genre, but it's also a well balanced add on to any anime game...GOO should be commended.

I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the Tenchi RPG from these folks, and can't wait for the expanded magic and sorcery rules to eventually make their way into BESM.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
