Review of Demon'sLair

I'm in the middle of being a playtester for the Play By E-Mail portion of this game, and I must say that it's great. I met the creators of the game at Gen Con 1998 when I purchased it, and I read through the rules quite a bit. However, I had problem trying to convince people to check out this game. When I went to their web page, and discovered the 100% free PBEM section, I jumped on the chance to get in on it.

While the game isn't intended to be comedic, it ends up being that way. The rules are very thoroughly explained, and if you have a question on something, they have a Dear Abby style section on their site dedicated to helping people with that. At the same time, their website isn't 100% commercial. They actually have things on there that HELP the players AND the GM!

Combat also goes very quick. An average combat round can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute, with four combatants on each side of the line. I had a very easy time learning the game. Character creation took me a while my first time, but after creating three or four characters, it goes pretty fast.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 5 (Excellent!)
