Magic Suitcase is a free database program from Dragonstar Publishing (http://www.dragonstudios.com/suitcase/). It has a complete index of all M:tG cards, with errata. There is no card artwork, but the database is fully searchable and sortable by various criteria. Dragonstar has been pretty good about updating card listings and also revising the software (it is currently on version 5.0 beta 15).

Suitcase is loaded with great stuff! One of the most usefull features of the program is the ability to build your own card database or deck. You can have the program 'shuffle' your deck, give you a seven card draw, and then draw single cards after that. If you want to run your deck through a large number of test draws, this is pretty handy. You can also get a breakdown by color, card type, mana cost, price and other categories. There is a playtest feature which allows you to play two decks against each other, but I haven't used it myself. Finally, Suitcase can pring proxy versions of cards, and has links to a few handy M:tG resources.

Suitcase is pretty spartan, but incredibly useful for Magic players. I use it a lot while reading Magic newsgroups so I can find out just what the cards being discussed do. It has also been pretty useful for deckbuilding, because I can look at all of my cards and build a deck without having to spread everything out on the table, running the risk of my son or dog eating the cards.
