Review of Cuddly Cthulhu
I entered my apartment building, and saw a plain box waiting by my mailbox. It appeared innocent in every way, save for the strange runes which read "From: Wizards Attic"..... Had I known then what horrors this box held, I would have turned away.
Entering my apartment, I sat down, and carefully opened the box. My mind reeled as it tried to make sense of the contents... The contents of the box.....
Yes, it arrived today! My "Cuddly Cthulhu", one of Chaosium's new releases, and the one on top of my "must have" list. My wife's Beanie-Babies(TM) are no longer safe.........
Sitting in at about 6" tall, "Cuddly Cthulhu" seems less frightening that H.P. Lovecraft's stories make him out to be. CC is posed in a sitting position, with wings outstretched. The stitching is of good quality, and barring any attacks by mi-go, he'll stay together for a long time. The eyes are plastic, and are solidly attached. The stuffing seems to be a very firm foam, so he sits well, and doesn't slump over. All in all, a very well crafted stuffed critter, on par or better than most on the marketplace.
Cuddly Cthulhu is a great buy for the Lovecraft and "Call of Cthulhu" fan. The only negative comment I have is that the order page did not say how tall he was, and at $15, I expected a somewhat larger critter. I still would have ordered one if they had given it's size, and the quality is such that (at least to me) it's well worth every penny; however, it would have been nice to know. That's the only reason I didn't score Cuddly Cthulhu as a 5 in "substance".
Oh - having Cthulhu in my apartment did *not* terrify my cats, nor did it drive me insane. Yet....
Style: 5 (Excellent!)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
