Review of Dungeon Keeper
Basically, the game allows to you to build dungeons and fill them with creatures. When you're powerfull enough (by having different chambers and creatures), the Lord of the Land arrives to do battle with you. And oh, what a glory, when your Demon Spawns eat up that saintly guy!
When you have conquered a realm in this way, you proceed to the next realm. For each realm (or each "level") the difficulty's harder and you get more options. And for each option, the game grows a little more complex, and a little more fun as well.
"DUNGEON KEEPER" is an excellent game which has already been praised in most magazines that review computergames. It certainly deserves the right - there are just so many funny details that'll keep you playing. You can, for instance, cast a spell which lets you possess the body of one of your creatures. In this way you can explore your own dungeon in first-person line of sight. Or you could cast any of the other spells. Or build any of the many rooms, be it the Barracks, the Treasure Room or the Workshop.
When you have played through the first five-six realms, you'll notice that the game takes an interesting twist. And it comes timely. At the time I reached the sixth realm I begun to get a little bored with the same plot. But it changes,to add even more depth to the game, especially strategic and tactical depth. For instance, you must be carefull with the dungeon construction when there are enemies on two sides instead of one.
There is so much to this game, that I just have to recommend it to roleplayers/fantasy buffs everywhere. However, because it is a computer game, it will never give you the same taste as a roleplaying game does. But it comes closer than most roleplaying games on the computer!
Style: 5 (Excellent!)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
