Review of Passage through Shadow triolgy

This single headed reiview actually covers 3 books. Descent into Darkness, Passage through Shadow, and Ascent into Light. Together these three works form the increadible Passage through Shadow campaing - a series of adventures that puts the characters at the heart of events that change the universe of the Trinity game. (And I am not joking about this one).

Now, I'm going to try to review these games without spoiling anything for anyone, so I will have to keep it short.

Physically the books are the half sized works (same size as the main Trinity rule book), softbound. The first section of each adventure (there are 2 to 3 adventures in each book) is in color on glossy paper, and is designed as IC handouts for the characters to read. The rest of the adventure is black and white, with detailed information on running the adventure. The books are solidly bound - not like the seemingly flimsy main book.

The adventures do have some limitations - you can't just run any group of characters through them. The characters are presumed to be working for the Aeon Trinty (though some sidebars do discuss other options the main thrust of the adventures is set up to assume this). Other than that though the doors are wide open - as the adventures have a little of everything, from investigation and intrigue to desperate battles for life.

The plot line starts off innocuous enough - the characters are minor memebers of the Trinity sent to investigate disapearances on Luna. From there things rappidly devolve into a desperate attempt to uncover possible corruption aomoung two of the most powerful psi orders, stop an abberant, and save the earth. Despite the fact that it sounds almost corny the adventures set it out in a reasonable and intelligent way that makes every step logical and by the numbers.

These adventures also contain reams and reams of material that is not adventure specific. Even ifyou don't run them it is worth having just for the deep material about Luna, Mars, and the psi orders. In addition it reveals a great deal of secret information about what is really going on in the universe - info that the characters uncover (maybe) during the course of their investigation.

I am normally an opponent of pre generated adventures. But this series is just brilliant. I highly recomend picking it up.
