Review of Tribes
Tribes is a game with a simple objective, success, in simple Darwinian terms. In other words to win you want lots and lots of healthy adult offspring. The rules are simple - you gather or hunt for food, you eat, you breed. The complexity in the game comes from interactions within the tribe, hunters want to move following game while gathers would rather avoid travel, arrangements need to be made for sharing food and guarding the children (just in case the hyenas turn up). Laws will get made, chiefs will get chosen (you don't have to choose a chief, but people are like that). If you have access to a referee things can get more complicated (so who really was the father?) and if you have lots of players you can have multiple tribes, which leads to competition over resources, trading, exchanging mates, wars and all the usual human behaviour in microcosm.
All in all a fun game with lots going for it.
