As Lord of the Rings becomes more and more popular with gamers and fans alike, Games Workshop is releasing more and more sets dealing with the famous trilogy. Their recent release is the the dreaded Ring Wraiths which stalk middle earth for Frodo and his companions.
Miniatures:
Included in the set are three mounted Ring Wraiths each with their own base. Each of these miniatures comes in three pieces which are easily assembled (the horse is in two sections and the sword arm is the third piece which can be positioned to suit your tastes). The details on the miniatures are outstanding as you can see the painstaking effort that went into these pieces. From the folds on the Ring Wraith's robe to the almost snarling faces that the horses have these are definately a challenge to any painter.
Comments:
As with any miniature there are some problems that I found with these. While the parts do fit together quite well you will need to clean these figures of flash and mold lines before assembly. Some of the flash that was on the figures ranged from not too bad (just alittle bit of stray metal that could be removed with a pair of pliers) to the downright ridiculous (a square block that was on the tail and a tab of metal that had to be cut off with a dremel tool). I have reviewed alot of different miniatures and these have the most amount of flash on them bar none. Also unless you really like lord of the rings , paying $25.00 for three mounted figures seems a bit steep to me.
Overview:
These figures are recommended for the people that play the LOTR tabletop game or fans of that genre. But if you're a gamer who is on a budget, then I would steer clear of this and look elsewhere for other mounted miniatures.
