Review of Dismounted Warriors with Feathers
I'm starting an Old West role-playing campaign, and decided that I needed some Indian miniatures. I'd had some luck with Old Glory in the past, so I checked their catalogue. They have a wide selection of Indians, but I thought that Dismounted Warriors with Feathers would be the most "generic" and useable in the widest range of situations.

The figures come in a pack of 30 metal figures for $27, which is a great value (less than a dollar per figure), when some miniature companies charge up to $4 for man-sized metal figures and even plastics can go for $1.50. They are true 25mm scale, so they may be a little smaller than some of the more heroic fantasy figures people are used to, but they are still compatible.

The biggest drawback is that there is some assembly required. Each Indian comes in two pieces (upper body and legs)which must be glued together. I painted and glued my set in batches of 10, and for each batch 6 or 7 of the figures would glue right together, no muss, no fuss. But the remaining 3 or 4 would take repeated fussing and mussing before they would stay glued. There are also a bunch of Shields that can be glued on to the figures, but I chose to skip the shields, and there's no real loss.

They paint up pretty easily. I was worried that it would be too politically awkward to sell "Injun Flesh Tone" paint in stores, but found that GW's "Dwarf Flesh" paint was just perfect.

So now I have a nice warband of Indians for all occasions for a reasonable amount of money. I'd give the set a 3 in style because it's not full of bells and whistles and aren't visually stunning or anything and people aren't going to want to use the figures for a prized PC, but I give it a 5 for substance because it delivers an excellent value for the money.
