Lafhelga Brutisdaughter Rune Wyrd of the Broken Peak http://red-box-games.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=10
Lafhelga is something of a rarity in dwarf miniatures, a female wizard. This is a two piece figure consisting of figure and base. No assemble outside of base attachment is required.
The figure is standing with left hand extended holding a staff topped with a crystal. Right hand is close to the body, holding up a large gem stone. Face is looking towards the staff. The figure is clothed like a wizard with a long fur lined cloak and robes. Lafhelga has long hair that spirals down her back.
Lafhelga is a dwarf in 28mm heroic scale. She has features more comparable to figures in Role Playing lines like Reaper’s Dark Heaven than the more bulky and square Confrontation or Warhammer. Definitely a character figure but suitable for the Reaper Warlord line.
There are several things I look for in a miniature:
Flash: None.
Vents: None
Mold Lines: Either I’m getting old and need glasses or the mold lines on this figure or so minimum that I can’t see them. There might be a hint of a mold line under her left hand on her spear.
Detail: This figure is brimming with detail. From the fur cloak, to the rune on her belt buckle, to the canteen to the gem tipped staff. More important though, it’s not brimming with excessive detail. There aren’t dozens of bags, buckles, belt pouches and little miscellaneous things. Enough to provide character. But not overwhelm the figure.
Price: At $7.99, this figure isn’t going to break the bank. While at one point, this may have been considered high end, for a small company like Red Box, it’s very competitive and less expensive than a character figure from an army setting like Confrontation or Warhammer would be.
Style: Solo in an army or perfect for a role playing game. Female wizard dwarves are few and far between. The choices just got a little sweeter with this one.
