My character is a Corporate Spy who has come a long way in a short time. I had visions of being a smooth talking, covert, computer type who would rather think his way out of a situation than shoot his way out. I learned early on it is important in the world of 2136 to be a well rounded individual. I almost didn’t survive my first adventure because I was a clumsy, bumbler with no firepower. The situation I was in didn’t call for the skills my character had at that time. Since then I have become a fairly dangerous and effective fighter. Subsequent adventures and missions have called for me to use my initial skills and think my way out, but in this world you have to be able to fight too.
My belief in The System faltered when an artificial intelligence I befriended was captured and nearly exterminated. I salvaged what I could of my friend and did my best to restore him. The Tech Guild and the AI Nation both owed me favors and they did all they could but he isn’t what he once was. He still accompanies me on my missions and he is slowly learning and growing, but it will take time to regain what he lost. Because of my friendship with this AI I have earned another passion and I have lost some trust in The System. This makes it harder to live in 2136, but I believe it is better care and think for yourself than to fight blindly and feel nothing.
I have been playing Strikeforce: 2136 for a few months now and have found it to be an amazingly intense adventure. The author has created an incredibly deep and plausible story of the world of 2136 in which one can become completely immersed.
As you play (or if you read the manuals) you begin to learn the history of how and why the system was developed and why the world of 2136 is so deceitful and vicious. The premise and history of this story is fantastic. It is incredibly engaging, rich in detail, and extremely well thought out-just like the game itself.
I especially love the flexibility in character development. As you fight and learn in 2136 your character has the choice to become what you want him/her to be: a zealot for The System, a pawn, a disbeliever, an insurgent, or anywhere in between. You can also develop the type of character you want to play. For example, as a Corporate Spy, you can focus on being stealthy/covert, have a weapons/fighting emphasis (for those who love to shoot first), computer/tech savvy, demolitions, sleazy con man type…or any combination you can imagine. The same holds true for all character types. They can be played any way you like. The game is flexible enough that as you learn more about The System your ideals, beliefs, and loyalties can change and your character with them. Plus there is an entire manual of sweet technology to help your character survive in their quest to become what you want them to be.
There is a tremendous amount of information and a lot to keep track of. The depth of this game and the amount of detail can make it a bit slow at times, especially in the beginning stages. Just do a little reading, get into the story, make it fun, and it is all worth it.
Strikeforce: 2136 is an amazing game. The story is incredible, the rules are complex, but well thought out, and the character growth and development is superb. If you are looking for a game that can be tailored to suit your needs, wants, and passions this is it. Strikeforce: 2136 can be as intellectual, challenging, and fun as you like.
