The Yu Jing is one of the nations that blend technology with the old ways and they are a formidable force on the battlefield. The starter pack includes six miniatures, bases and the basic rules for playing (which are also available on Corvus Belli's website as well). Three of the minis are the Zhanshi, which are the banner troops of the Yu Jing Empire, but also included are Hsien (emperor elite guards), Shaolin Monks (martial art experts) and a Ninja.. yes.. you heard right.. a technological assassin for your fighting force.
The minis looks great and there's a lot of detail on each piece and almost no flash pieces and no visible mold lines. The plastic bases fit these minis easy but they'll have to be mounted as such is the case with most minis in this category. Even the box that it comes in has enough foam padding to double as a storage case for your minis!
The rules for Infinity are pretty straightforward giving you the bare minimum to play the game. Infinity uses a d20 to resolve combat and saves as the minis can move and shoot as well (with modifiers of course). All the necessary info is packed into 28 pages of a rulebook that has a very small typeface (I would recommend downloading the rule set as well so you can read it on a computer at a bigger typeset).
As for the price there’s not much else to say, this is a well-rounded army that has three normal infantry and three specialized units. There are some boxed sets that are out there that cost as much if not more and are just expansions for existing games and not everything that you need to play is still in the box (you’d need to go out and buy the rules or the army list or even more minis to play!)
All in all if you're looking at getting into Infinity but don't have a lot of money to spend I would suggest giving this starter pack a try because this pack has a balanced fighting force, beautiful miniatures and everything that you'll need to get started in the world of infinity.
