Review of 101 Patrons
Review of 101 Patrons

This 56 page booklet is packed full of scenario ideas and plot ideas for any campaign. The booklet initially details 36 Dramatic Situations which cover virtually all the basic plotlines one can encounter in a roleplaying game. This is in itself had me looking forward to Game mastering the next adventure as 2 or 3 of these situations would make a nice evening of play.

There are also 48 patron encounters detailed in the booklet and these are set out in the standard Traveller style with the Referee’s information set out in a table in the dice roll range 1-6 each range of role giving a slightly modified result or outcome.

The booklet continues with 27 situations that the player characters may find themselves in. My favourite is when the party is on a planet with a repressive police state is taken to hospital and the remainder of the party visit him the hospital has no record. The resultant dice roll can give an adventure varying between a clerical error to the player being seized by the State as a dangerous criminal.

There is 6 more detailed patrons, all of these being suitable to a number of gaming sessions. One of the scenarios is called Achilles Station disclosing a complete colony in the nominally empty parsec of 2120 in Lanth. A thriving world has been built on a rogue ice asteroid. A great hideaway for characters on the run or it could be just a base for pirate adventures. To finish we are treated to 2 pages of starport rumours and 3 pages of snippets of World Seeds each few liners allowing the Referee to expand the idea tenfold if he wishes. A lovely idea to finish is a complete visual index of a summary of each adventure so the Referee can add a side adventure to the campaign if he is under pressure. Overall great value for the money
