The Cuckoo figure is approximately Halfling or short dwarf size. The set consist of the Cuckoo and the metal base. The metal base is slit in the middle. I personally like the metal bases if I have to get a base because it adds some stability to the figures.
At the price though, I figured he’d be much smaller. The figure appears as a well-dressed Halfling with some mad hair raising his left arm in anger and holding his trusty dagger in his left hand. He comes with lots of little details including boots, cloak, cloak clasp, belt, belt buckle, and some other details like bushy eyebrows and fanged teeth.
The first thing I thought when I saw this figure, was not its Fantasy Bestiary position. In that d20 monster book, the Cuckoo is a fey beast that finds the lord of a household and charms him into thinking that the Cuckoo is the rightful heir to all the possessions. No, what I thought when seeing this figure was mad vampire Halfling whose out for revenge.
In terms of flash, the figure has a bit at the end of his dagger and at the bottom of his cape on the left side. Cleaning it was a snap. In the figures I’ve looked over from Lance and Laser in the Penumbra line, this one has one of the more easy to spot mold lines running on the right side from his bracer through his arm through the cloak where it meets up on one side, but hardly visible on the other. The one bad thing about the figure and its small size, is that you’ll need some spackle or putty to fill the slot unlike most of the other figures in the line.
The Cuckoo is a great figure if you want a vampire Halfling or just want to showcase a Halfling whose gone mad from being ignored all those many years and at $2.99, the figure would make a great addition to a party of Dark Creepers as an unmasked leader.
In consulting DriveThruRPG we've come up with a number of products which we think might be related, but some might be inaccurate because the name, Cuckoo, is so short. Nonetheless, take a look, as purchasing through the RPGnet Store helps to support RPGnet.
