I have always liked the idea of a screen you can use for all your games, it just makes sense to me. Using whatever art is ready at hand and evocative of the setting to decorate the players side of the screen is also something most groups have done for years. Using a customizable screen allows GMs to tailor the art to each session if they so desire, so the advantages to having a customizable screen are obvious. The sticking points for many people are the cost and durability.
There are other customizable screens out there, but none for this low of a price and to my knowledge none in the landscape configuration. The advantages to landscape are that each pane is longer so a trifold covers a lot of ground and yet it's not so tall that the GM has to stand up to see where the figs on the table are. The overall effect is that the GMs notes are safe, but at the same time that feeling of distance between player and GM is reduced. It's not as cozy as sitting shoulder to shoulder with the players with no screen, but it's pretty close.
As for durability, I had to wait and use it for awhile to come to a conclusion. When I received mine it had two tell-tale cracks at the seams that had me worrying. My wife even thought I should send it back, but being eager to use it my thought was: "With material like vinyl, how could the creases *not* crack?" Well, it's 30+ gaming sessions later and those cracks have not grown one tiny little bit. We game in my basement so it's not being carried in a bag from session to session, but it is being folded and unfolded each week and the inserts get changed out regularly as we play new games and I find new artwork.
It's heavy too, with a shipping weight of 1lb (.45kg), that feels like much more - it just feels solid, like you could hurt someone with the thing. I've never had to tape it to keep it in place nor had to prop it open with books. Lay it open till it lays flat on it's own (a matter of a minute or so) and then position it as needed and it stays there. GMs who've knocked over a screen in the middle of a session will appreciate how nice this is.
A durable and flexible product that will add to the enjoyment of every session, regardless of the RPG you're playing - highly recommended.
