Review of Xmas Surprise Package
Introduction

----------------------------

On a rare occasion these days I do have something nice to say about Palladium Books, maybe it is the spirit of Christmas invading my normally cynical and snarky personality. The annual Xmas Surprise Package from Palladium books is one of the cooler offers from a publisher, regardless of what you think about them specifically.

What You Get

----------------------------

For 31 dollars total you can get a lot of stuff from Palladium books, so long as you are not too picky about what you get…which equates to about 50 dollars worth of stuff. Some of it is new, some of it is old…but so long as you are specific about what you want in your Xmas Surprise Package you will likely not be disappointed. A large combination of books, dice bags, t-shirts and other Palladium products are available. After a few orders over the years I can guesstimate what an order will consist of: A book or two, original art (usually at the cost of a book, if requested), prints, dice bag, posters, t-shirt. If it is a paper based product there is a flag on the order form for autographs, which is cool when it is the author. When it is someone like an editor, less so but it is not like it seems to detract from items in your order either way. Honestly I could take an entire Xmas Surprise Package of art, as I have been a fan of a number of the Palladium artists…especially old school Siembieda. This must have been gaining popularity over the past couple of years as art seems to be a little harder to get. The only thing keeping me from ordering this year is the delay of Mechanoids Space or any new Palladium Fantasy book. Lastly if there is a hard to find or out of print book, there is a chance you will get it if requested. I got a couple of books from Palladium that way that I might have had to work harder and pay more to find elsewhere.

Summary

----------------------------

The Palladium Xmas Surprise Package is a good deal if you have any interest in their games or art. Probably for everyone else it really is not appealing, but that is not surprising since this is a Palladium Books offer direct to their fans. It helped fill in the couple of gaps on my wall for art and my bookshelf for games and was a fun Christmas gift to myself.
