Review of Kill Bill Vol. 2
This is my NO-SPOILER review of KILL BILL VOLUME 2:

Kill Bill 2 is really nothing like the first one. Whereas the first one was really stylized, extremely violent, and very fast moving, this one is much much slower, more akin to Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs.

The dialogue is to two or three times longer, and so the action is two or three times less. I mean it, there is ALOT of dialogue going on.

Really, don't expect this movie to be the action packed killing fest that the first one is.

So did I like it? Yes I did. I don't think the two movies are really comparable. And you can't really put both movies together and judge it as a whole -- the two are just too different from one another.

This movie is definitely a little cheezier than the first one, but mostly because of Tarintino's homage to old 70's japanese movies (I thought the kung fu training was funny as hell).

There wasn't nearly as many stylized moments in this one compared to the first. There were some scenes that switched to non-widescreen, and there were some more black+white scenes, and a very very disturbing several minutes where everything was black and all you could do was listen. But there was no anime in this one. The Kung Fu thing was really damn funny though (but if you have never watched Kung Fu Theatre in the 80's, then you just won't get it).

There is a difinitive ending, so don't worry about a bad cliffhanger or setup for a sequal. The climax is very subtle, but the entire last 20 minutes will be a complete surprise and somewhat disturbing -- Tarintino did a great job of bringing in some ethics and morality here. But once again the last 20 minutes only has a couple minutes of action.

My only real complaint: I WANT MORE PAI MEI!!

Anywho, If you really enjoyed the kind of fast-action-popcorn movie the first one was, then please take caution. This movie is far slower than the first, with alot of time spent on the individual characters. My wife liked vol 1, but did not like this one at all. As a matter of fact, we counted no less that 5 people who walked out of the theatre.

Vol 1 is defintely more interesting, but Vol 2 definitely has the better dialogue. I suspect alot of people will be disappointed in this second movie, but I for one thought it was still pretty damn good.
