So, what is it? It’s luggage – good, solidly constructed, rigidly sided black luggage with a shoulder strap. It has three compartments with foam for holding miniatures. You can choose which configuration is best for you, but I like the one I’ve got. The left and right compartment each hold five pieces of foam which each hold 32 28mm miniatures in snug, padded foam compartments. That’s a whopping 320 miniatures capacity (480 if you use all three compartments for infantry sized miniatures). The center compartment has four foam blocks that allow for carrying larger monster miniatures and vehicles. You could easily fit a large Warhammer army or all the miniatures you need for a lengthy RPG session in this thing without a problem.
Unlike most carry cases I’ve seen you can easily fly with this. It is durable enough and well packed enough for you to check this as a normal piece of luggage. It has a mesh pocket inside for books, dice, rulers, emergency miniature repair supplies, etc. It has an external pocket that can hold even more stuff. The zippers are rugged, durable and have survived much use without problem. It even has a zipper lock so that you can secure it and make sure no one pokes around your miniatures without permission.
It is also very economical from the perspective of dollars per miniature. At $123 bucks for up to 480 miniatures transport capacity, it is a bargain. For example, the Barracks Box Figure case costs 64.95 retail and holds 140 miniatures. That’s roughly 46 cents per mini. This is more like 25 cents per miniature. There are smaller versions if the delux is too much transport for you. I am not sure how they stack up as I have only personally used the deluxe version.
If I had one improvement to suggest it is this. When you fully load this baby is heavy. It lacks wheels so common on many larger pieces of luggage. This problem is easily remedied by a small travel dolly if lifting the weight is a concern to you, but it would be nice if the wheels were included.
I know I sound less like a reviewer and more like a salesman for Charon Productions, but honestly, this product is simply great. The more I use it the more I love it. If you need a carrying case for minis I think you can do no better than Charon Production's Delux Battlepack. Check it out!
