To start things off I can easily say I have never been too interested in the horror genre in gaming (or literature or movies). However much of that changed when I started looking at and using materials from Pagan Publishing.

The book is laid out nicely and each section is deliniated and focused on the subject. With a little editing, much of this information can be passed along to a PC, without them knowing the big picture or the whole truth. But I will say Delta Green is not a supplement that characters should necisarily read cover-to-cover or own. Unless they can suspend player knowledge, they might know too much.

Delta Green has perhaps some of the best hooks for contemporary gaming that I have seen. It doesn't matter if the players are from different departments in the government. They all share a common goal and once you are in Delta Green...well....don't make many other plans.

As a supplement for games outside of Call of Cthulu, Delta Green also excels. Its listing of government agencies and examples of what agents from them would be skilled at is invaluable as a reference. As well most of the material with-in is written without a system bias, so wanting to use it in GURPS, Millenium's End or other contemporary genre games is easy.

It is tough to find anythign wrong with a book so good. But about the only hit Delta Green takes is that nearly a third of the book is taken up by scenarios. To be honest I would have ratehr seen the Mi-go supplement availiable only through mail order put in the scenario's place. Not to say the scenarios are bad, quite the opposite. But it would have made Delta Green by far better than it already is. Why, um, well...because.

So don't let any of that sway you from buying this book. It is easily one of the best things I have bought and read in years. This coming from someone who was never really into CoC till a few months ago.

Style: 5 (Excellent!)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
