Bubblegum Crisis: Before and After (BGC:BA) is the first sourcebook for the Fuzion based Bubblegum Crisis. It deals with the prequel and sequel animes (AD Police and Bubblegum Crash!) that were released after the original BGC series. The book comes in three parts:
  • AD Police which deals with the decade prior to BGC
  • Bubblegum Crash!, after the events in Bubblegum Crisis
  • Game Material including new rules.

BGC:BA does a wonderful job in capturing the feel of the genre of the BGC universe. It's a classic cyperpunk style game in which the big, bad corporations are flooding the world with cybernetics and robots (called boomers) which are an endless source of mayhem and destruction. The government is too corrupt to do anything about it so it's up to a few brave individuals to deal with the menace. Both time periods come with episode guides and other flavor pieces which help visualize for the world for both the GM and players.

Other goodies include lots of boomers and various NPCs for the GM to use. For those characters wishing to graft cyber-goodies onto their bodies there are rules for that and the potential for side effects. Rounding off the entire book is a mega-adventure spanning all three time periods.

Those who are interested in either BGC or anime based campaigns will want to take a look at this book.

    Style: 5 (Excellent!)
    Substance: 5 (Excellent!)
