Although this accessory for the Alternity game is designed for use with the Star*Drive setting, it can easily be adpated to any other Alternity campaign, TSR-made or homegrown. I, for one, use a campaign setting of my own and the Arms & Equipment Guide is a valuable reference indeed.
The first thing that impressed me about the A&EG was that it was quite different than most other accessories of a similar type. Not all of it is filled up with guns! Weapons only take up 34 pages of the 96 in the book. There's information on clothes, medical equipment, armour, vehicles, communications gear, sensor items, computers, cyberware, and more. It is designed to resemble a catalogue, and often I found myself laughing along with the text. Shadow-talk like in Shadowrun it is not, but for that I am glad. Sure, there's guns and grenades and other weapons that can cause mass destruction, each one of them represented by a beautiful rendered picture, but the information on cyberware and computers is just as important. Charts at the back of the book make for easy reference. If you are looking for a book that details equipment of the future and wish to bring your campaign to life (whether it is an Alternity setting or not) then this is a an excellent book to seek out. Easy to read, but packed with information.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
