Cyberpunk. The word bleeds science fiction, what new readers are cutting their teeth on, immersing themselves in the genre for the first time. I imagine a kid, upon first reading Gibson's Neuromancer, Stephenson's Snow Crash, or Sterling's Mirroshades,p, performing a search at Amazon for Barnes & Noble for more titles that fit this new thing: Cyberpunk.

They'll find Talsorian's Cyberpunk, and they'll find what they were looking for.

This game captures the feel of dark future games, mixing all of the familiar elements- Corporations, Big Guns, Music, and of course Cyberware- into the gameworld, familiar to any moviegoer: Akira, Blade Runner, Demolition Man, Johnny Mnemonic, Mad Max, Nemesis, Robocop, Split Second, Total Recall. Cyberpunk 2020 infuses the players into the world of high-budget action science fiction, anywhere from the scum and castaways living on the street to the sleek skyscrapers of Corporate life. Cyberpunk makes itself clear: it focuses on style over substance.

The system will let you, too. Interlock has a simple stat + skill + d10 resolution, fully allowing any GM with a cinematic bent to fully loose their whims. Character creation is fairly quick, maybe a half hour or so, depending on how much kibitzing and equipment you'd need. GMs just picking up the system will have no trouble for ideas- Talsorian has more than twenty books in their Cyberpunk line- enough plot hooks, scenarios, equipment, regional books to set you up for whatever you want to do within the game.

Also, recent developments with Hero games and the Fuzion system will allow more crossover: Bubblegum Crisis, Champions, and several fan-written adaptations for Fuzion.
