Despite it being the first campaign world introduced, the support for Greyhawk has been spotty. A box set came out in the mid-1980's followed by the odd product, but there never seeme to be sustained support on the level of that given to the Forgotten Realms.

This product, the Player's Guide to Greyhawk, may be the start of such detailed support. In 64 pages the players are given an in-depth introduction to the Flanaess and those who inhabit it. Everything from the environment, history, calendar, major NPCs adventure ideas for players and an explanation of the various races is crammed into 64 pages. An argument can be made that perhaps a bit too much information is given; players will no doubt have a tough time remembering all the nuances that their characters are suppose to know. As a GM I found the book presented a good deal of information in a logical and well written manner. I'm curious to see what support material TSR will be producing that is going to be for the GM's eyes only.

The campaign world has recently finished the equivalent of a World war and is in pretty rough shape. Intrigue and mystery abound as do big ugly things that desperately need killing. The potential for various styles of play exists...any GM worth his salt can find something to entertain his players. Even better is that this setting can easily be played with any system, the book is very light on AD&D mechanics.

Overall this book is a solid start for sustained support to the old Greyhawk campaign world. Whether this will continue remains to be seen.
