I've had Blackhand's Street Weapons 2020 for a while now, but I think it's worthy of a review, so here it is...

Basically Blackhand's Street Weapons 2020 is simply a collection of every man(or cyborg!)-portable weapon from CP2020's sourcebooks... Yes, really, all of them... and they are legion. More handguns, smgs and rifles than you could shake a stick at, together with all sorts of exotics, melee weapons and heavy weapons. Even 'Borg only weapons are included, although cybermounted weapons are not, and niether are pure vehicle-mounted weapons.

It also includes all of the ammo types, together with a few that were news to me (as were some of the guns, but then I don't have the PacRim or Nomad sourcebooks, sadly...), such as "Safety" ammo, which rather negates the point of most of the Orbital-use weapons... Some weapons have had their stats corrected, some quite dramatically (The Cyborg Rifle doesn't have a ROF of 2, it's 20!), and the recoil rules have been included (although not the modifcation rules from Solo2, and I still don't know the cost of changing a weapons caliber...). The recoil rules seem pretty buggy, and gun's given recoils are often dramatically at odds with the calculated ones... Also some of the books it sites as sources don't seem to be correct(where are hollowpoints in CB1 or CB2?).It also points out how contradictory CP2020's rules writers can be, particularly in the 25mm Grenades section.(Three or more different conflicting sets of rules for the same weapons...).

Still, overall it is incredibly useful, speeding up character creation, bad-guy equipping and generally simplifying one's life, and stopping needless reference to hundreds of different sourcebooks. Now all we need is one for cyber/bioware and perhaps for vehicles and the set will be complete... all this and _one_ new gun too... ;) (RTG must know what slavering weapons-dogs we are...).

Style: 3 (Average)
Substance: 5 (Excellent!)
