So you've done all sorts of role-playing? Do you have a "did that, done that" attitude when it comes to high fantasy, dark fantasy, undead fantasy, four-color comic book heroes, dark comic book heroes, cyberstuff and sci-fi? Could it possibly mean that there isn't a genre left to explore?

Nope.

Unless you happen to have a very clever, or twisted, GM there is little chance that you have played anything approaching Og, the game set in the dinosaur vs caveman genre. Yep, we are talking "Land of the Lost" here folks...with a twist.

The PCs are cavemen - those smelly, hide-wearing ancestors of ours. Pointy sticks are the height of technology and the bad guys have starring roles in Jurassic Park. Life is short, brutal and very goofy.

The PCs can play one of five types of cavemen: strong caveman, smart caveman, fast caveman, hitting caveman, or healthy caveman. they have a handful of skill and lots of rocks to throw at anything that moves.

It's a tongue-in-cheek game that is going to drive your players up the wall. Not because they are hopelessly outmatched by the dinosaurs. Nope, what is going to make them want to murder you is the lack of vocabulary cavemen had. When discussing among themselves, the PCs are limited to 17 words: you, me, rock, water, fire, tree, hair, bang, sleep, smelly, small, cave, food, thing, big, sun, and go. So, let's say that a T-Rex is about to eat an unsuspecting PC...his comrades could only point and yell "Big, big, smelly, bang, thing". Now what GM wouldn't get perverse pleasure out of this?

If you are looking for a fun break from running your campaign take a look at Og...and rent a few of those goofy movies to get everybody into the right mindset.
