I knew I had to buy this book the minute I saw the cover. It shows a motor cycle ridin', uzi shooting, top-heavy Nun wasting a pack of alien creatures. Some of you may be offended, but remember this is the "If you're not amused, it's only because you're too dumb to understand" edition!
The background is easy-the world has basically gone to hell because of the men who ran it. Now it's up to the women to rebuild it (or blow it up!). Throw in some Dimensional warping to explain the wierd creatures walking about and you have yourself the "Machoverse". Character creation is pretty standard. You select one of three classes-Macho Women with Guns, Renegade Nuns on Wheels, or Bat-winged Bimbos from Hell. Each has it's own distinct assets and liabilities. Then you distribute points between Attributes and Skills (most of which are very broad and very humorous). Then you can decide if you want some weird advantages or disadvantages (my fav advantage:Hard Drinking; my fave disadvantage:a tie between conservative dresser and top-heavy). Add some finishing touches like name, equipment and hobbies and you're ready to roll. The system is easy enough to learn-to accomplish something roll 3d6 and if the result is under the appropriate attribute + skill level +/- any situational bonuses or penalties you get it done. How many points under the target number often determines how well you did it. Damage figures in the hit location and weapon used minus any armor you may be wearing. Some of you may be groaning, "that's not realistic!", but the last time I checked there weren't too many Orcs and Goblins in the woods behind my house either(though there are some strange creatures that just moved in down the street!) For the gamemasters, there are charts to randomly generate critters (including a hilarious chart to come up with Lovecraftian creature names) and generic plot lines. GM's also are presented with the Machoverse-the world of Macho Women. It seems that the distortion of the space-time continium has created interconnected planes that make up the Machoverse. These planes are the Anime Plane, The Dark Future Plane, the Lovecraftian Plane, the Low Fantasy Plane, the Redneck Plane and the Science Fiction Plane. Each plane has it's own characteristics and character traits that go along with it. Finish all this off with an assortment of creatures (including the infamous Drunken Frat Boys and Congressional Subcommittee), a Lovecraftian Nightmare adventure, and some character sheets (which look strangely like sheets I've used in other games?!?) and you've got yourself quite a buy for $9.95! So, if you're sick of being politically correct (and who isn't!), want to have fun (fun? role playing games are supposed to be fun?), or just want to kill some time (or some frat boys!) this is the game for you. Do yourself, and Greg Porter, a favor and buy a couple copies for you and your friends-it's worth it!
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
