This is the definitive RPG sourcebook for Robin Hood.
The book starts with a brief section on common character types for the classic setting. That flows smoothly into the next section, which covers the classic Robin Hood and his Merry Men. They cover England during Robin's era- politics, economics, etc.- in enough detail that you can run a game with nothing more than this book and the Basic Set. They cover variations in the stories over the centuries, both in the sidebars and in the statistical descriptions of the heroes. It doesn't stop there. The authors go on to reinvent Robin and his gang for other genres. The first is a Swashbuckler variant, using the Scot highlands as a setting and the Jacobite rebellions as a backdrop. The same attention to detail given to the classic period appears again, and the same result occurs. This is repeated for the Old West, Supers (IST), Cyberpunk and Space. Each time, the roles get new faces and new twists get used to good effect. It's hard to not find any of them compelling. If you like Robin Hood, you need this book. If you don't, but you're streching for campaign ideas, take a chance on this one. Either way, you should get your money out of it in short order.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
