Warpstone magazine (now on issue 8) carries on the fine tradition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Published quarterly, it is designed with the style and mood of the original game intact. Each issue is divided into regular features: Reviews, Fragments (industry news of note to WFRP gamers), Cameos (short adventure seeds up to 1500 words), The Usual Suspects (NPC's), and feature articles. To give you an idea of the sort of articles one can generally find in warpstone, the contents for issue 8 follow:
  • -An excellent article dealing with Witch-hunters and their role in the Warhammer world.
  • -The Missing Children of Regensdorf. A 14 page secnario featuring a thoroughly evil(and memorable)noble protagonist, a child-eating scarecrow, animated suits of armour, and a rampaging band of goblins.
  • -An article dealing with diseases
  • -A cameo centered around a giant-hunt and a treacherous noble.
  • -Two excellent short stories which would make sound adventures

The art within is dark, moody and provacative, the writing of high quality, and the fact that that the Warpstone staff is on good terms with Hogshead Publishing (the official licensee of WFRP) means that the magazine often contains sneak peaks at upcoming Warhammer products.

For Warhammer enthusiasts, Warpstone is a must. For anyone with an interest in dark fantasy, it is also well worth a look.

    Style: 5 (Excellent!)
    Substance: 5 (Excellent!)
