Now before i start i would first like to point out this is my first review.
Also i am dyslexic and horribly lazy so sorry for the spelling/grammar etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As i thought about the monumental task of writing a reveiw of a rather good game i figured that i could re-read it and take notes (on my trusty dictaphone) so that i would have a referance source close to hand, imagine then my horror as i found out that some one had taken my well constructed and ordered notes and replaced them whith the rantings of a mad fool out on the lash; curse the demon drink etc. But c'est la vie i will put down this as my contribution to the gaming press and take my flaming like a man. So finally on to the review, i liked this game on many levels first off i will start with the cover art the title nicley square center at the top of the page in a stylized logo, very nicley done and very much in the keeping of white wolf products, however the similarities to WoD products ends there, as the rest of the cover consists of a water marked montage of anime characters framed in a white marble effect border and a bold embossed full color anime charecter, the back is simiarly done and very classy it looks too. Then there is the first inerior art, which is a helpful full colour map of the setting, i feel this is a stark conrast to the rest of the boof as it is neither classy or slick butmerely functional, the rest of the art work is of a passible standard mixing american styled anime with more traditional western pencils and inkings this i feel is a let down as it dosent flow and some of the pics are eye-jarringly ugly, so alround average. The quality of the short stories is to my mind fitting to the rest of the book, slick, how ever i feel they could have done more with them and had more of them as they really gave me sense of how the game should work. The back round information, while vivid is not so good and is a little too......... sparse, it doesnt do much more than cover the bases in a large area's of the games setting, a setting that is fantasic and desered to be milked as hard as the writer's can but apart from that niggle (although it was huge really but a good gm will relish the chance to free style it a bit) the character creation is bland and it feels like you are building a flat-packed person rather than a living breathing alter ego for your exploits, but that is the norm for WW games so in conclusion i think that this game while good, feels as if it is missing large chunks of potential (that will no doubt be milked by splat books) so will not get any more than an average mark off me untill it has been expanded upon. | |
