One caveat before we start: This product is years out of print, and ridiculously hard to find.
Now that that's out of the way, 3MV1 is one of the most interesting little buys for Mekton that exists. While it's almost worthless in storytelling terms, it represents the wide versatility and portability of the Mekton Zeta system, by demonstrating mecha builds for settings ranging from steampunk to hyperfuture. In theory, some of the settings (Earth 199x, Air Gunners: Earth 2058, Slave Drivers: Earth 2090 and The Terran Republic: 2150 AD) could be linked together to form an overarching history... or you could just enjoy the lunacy as it is, which is probably a better thing to do in the first place. The Algol designs are actually the most useful in the book, since they tie into the Algol 1530 setting partially detailed in the main book and Mekton Z Tactical Display. All in all, because of the limited utility of some of the mecha, certain flaws in some designs and a lack of coherent plot structure, I recommend this to Mekton completists only. | |
