Aberrant is an excellent game from White Wolf with the tagline "What would you do with the power of a god?". Superhero is a limiting description of it actually, humans with super powers is more accurate.

With an excellent and intriguing cannon storyline Aberrant presents the gamer with Earth circa 2008, ten years after the explosion of the Galatea, a space station whose explosion coincides with the appearence of people 'erupting' with super powers when presented with stress, danger, or emotional trauma.

The cannon storyline is the conduit in which the gamer is presented with how the presence of super humans effects the world. Religion, science, entertainment, sports and more are examined for the changes that have occured.

If you want to play a straight four color superhero game you can, if you want a dark 'n gritty conspiracy game, those ingrediants are available. Super powers are presented in an interesting manner and the game system leaves enough up to the Storyteller and the Player when creating a character so that each character can be completely unique, even if multiple powers are shared.

One of the few lacking points in Aberrant is that it is strictly supposed to be a super humans game. Gadget rules are limited and not extremly well written and magic is not an option under the normal rules. But that aside this is an excellent game. I've played Classic Marvel and Champions and talked with people who've played DCU and other super games and this one gets a universal thumbs up!
