In a perfect world, only noble and kind people would receive quantum powers. The Aberrant world however, is not perfect. Taken from concerts, news clips and web pages, the background of the ReignofEvil cult comes through clearly.

Lead by aberrants who preach about the powers of evil, the cult is involved in the worst things that humanity has to offer. Cannibalism? Murder? Drugs? Decadent sex? All there and account for. The main belief is that in 2017, Astaroth will be joined by five other demons and become a massive creature that ends the world in fire and carnage. So far, Astaroth has four members and is only awaiting for the fifth.

The main brains or organizers of the cult are Astaroth. Hailing from Norway, his parth started by following Glenn Danzig and Henry Rollins in their devotion to physical power and went down the ways of self gratification quickly thereafter. Belial, a user of women and foolish mage wannabes who mental manipulations make the brains of the group. Beltaine, a child who enjoys S&M, a woman with mega stamina and mental powers to dominate her chosen victims. Grimskull, a hulking blob of a man whose main interest in the group is to crush others. Most interesting though is Mammon, virtually unknown by those that she works with, Mammon is interested in destroying the whole cult in retributions for their poor treatment of her in the past. She’s so secretive that the cult is unaware that Mammon is even a woman!

The nice thing about these small books is that they uses ‘real’ world influences and then go into the history sans newscasts and news clips. More importantly, there are gaming stats for the aberrants who lead the cult. About the only thing missing is some information on what happens with the year 2017 comes and the manifestation fails to take place. With the Aberrant adventure packs taking the setting into the future years at a stretch, it would be nice to see how the organization holds together after the promised event fails to pass.

In my own opinion, the book should also be labeled for adults. The use of profanity and adult themes is thick in the book. I’ve always though that despite being for adults, that the use of profanity is weak in the White Wolf line. It’s like the author was so proud of doing an adult themed book that he shows it with cussing like a teenager learning a bad word.

ReignofEvil.com is a useful book that fills a niche in the Aberrant world but isn’t vital or even necessary for a good quantum powered game. For $4.95, you can put something really sick and twisted into your Aberrant campaign.
