Is it just me, or is White Wolf getting Formulaic?

Use X power to Achieve Y goal to put Z faction into power and save W, without letting the normal people find out.

With Exalted, I expected a radical departure from the standard White Wolf Game. However, I did not find this to be the case.

Sure, it takes place in a completely different era, with a new character type... but mainly, the story is:

Use your ESSENCE power to RECLAIM THE BIRTHRIGHT OF THE SOLAR EXALTED into power and save THE NORMAL PEOPLE, without letting the normal people find out.

If you promise something radically different, then please, for the love of god, White Wolf, produce something radically different.

The sheets have been reworked, but it's the same old system under a new name. Put a new coat of paint on the same old game.

Some may like the fantasy setting, but there's really no reason to play Exalted if you already play D&D, and frankly, the wildly unpredictable Storyteller System doesn't endear me to it. White Wolf has, in the past, been able to advance sales due to the setting.

Essentially, they've taken the setting from D&D and attempted to force it to conform to thier system.

The only people that will get their game are those people that get EVERY book that White Wolf comes out with... and as the quality of those products gets worse and worse, these numbers will drop.

Let's hope that there's ALOT more to the final game than what's in the quickstart.
