Steve Jackson Games has started a new policy of releasing some of their GURPS material as a "Straight-Line" game. You order it from them directly on the web at www.sjgames.com, and it comes to you with no middle-woman to pay. This allows them to print much smaller runs of more esoteric material. They ran 2000 copies of this book, and I still don't know how anyone in this industry makes money?!?

There may not be enough interest to justify putting this book in stores (I thought Planet Krishna would be a waste), but this is a damn fine GURPS book. It covers the period from 862 ce, through 1725 ce, and that is a lot of history, which we in the west don't know much about. Source material covers historical events, how the people lived, various character types, how to run a straight historical or fantasy campaign, and even includes insight into the uniquely fatalistic Russian viewpoint.

This is an excellent sourcebook for any medieval, fantasy, or Birthright campaignsäand it is well worth the trouble of hunting down. I still don't see why such a fine product couldn't be sold in stores. This gets an "A."
