This is a godsend for all those wanting a Player's Handbook for Conspiracy X. Few other books give players such a complete and indepth amount of information at the same time.
Aegis expands on character generation for agents, including new skills, trainings and traits that I've been waiting for since Conspiracy X first came out. With over 50 professions to choose from, there is virtually an unlimited number of possibilities for players to choose from. One of Conspiracy X's strongest points is the concept of Pulling Strings, and Aegis has over 100 to choose from. These allow agents to excercise power through their positions in government agencies. No longer is your player's background just relegated to the past, it's an integral part of the playing experience. Cell creation, is nothing new to gaming. However, Conspiracy X brings in another twist with the concept of an Ops Center - or secret base - where agents can pool their resources and operate from. Aegis expands on this Cell creation, including new locations, facilities, staff, equipment and resources. Aegis also includes a detailed history of the conspiracy's past. While some of this information is reprinted from the Conspiracy X Rulebook, it is needed I think. Players don't have to be concerned about flipping back and forth between two books. All we need is this one. What suprises me is the amount of information Eden has crammed into this book. There is not an ounce of unused space to be found. This is in stark contrast to the large font / wide margin books I have bought for other games in the past. It's definately worth the money. The only gripe I have is with the layout of the last few pages - Appendix B. Even they seem to be the result of Eden trying to cram as much info into this book as possiblt, however. A great book - Aegis is proof positive that Conspiracy X is the game for the government conspiracy / 'aliens among us' genre.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
